The bell rings and you dash out of class in order to beat the line at the Pilot Cafe, rushing past other students that are ready to sit down and eat after the stressful day of classes so far. You smile at the nice lady who is always there, smiling and serving you your food. You always see her there every day, but can you actually put a name to the friendly face?

If you can’t, then you’re in luck, because I’m going to give you the inside scoop to shed light on this integral person in our OLP Community. Karen Szegi-Wimpey is the friendly face that is always seen serving lunch at the Pilot Cafe with a bright smile. Szegi-Wimpey is a very kind, sweet, and compassionate woman who strives to always be her best self. She recognizes and knows every single student; even if she doesn’t necessarily know your name, she’ll know your order. She genuinely loves and cares for each of us, and a little kindness goes a long way; she loves receiving a smile and simple manners from you all. She loves Jesus above all things and is proud to call herself a Conservative. She is in her own words “all about the Constitution” and is an incredible tennis player! She is very open to listening to everyone’s opinions and never judges anyone based on their race or beliefs.

Ms. Szegi-Wimpey is an integral part of our OLP family, and all she asks of us all is to simply smile more; that’s it. I have always believed that a smile can brighten up a person’s day and she has proven me correct once again. She genuinely cares for our well being and always ensures the food is the highest quality it can possibly be. Next time you see them, make sure to say hello and don’t forget your manners and smile!
